Head of Sales


Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer

Location: The post holder will be based in the LINX Peterborough office but travel to other locations (including international locations) will be required

Statement of Objectives: To manage the sales team at LINX, ensuring that sales targets are met

Responsibilities:

Sales

  • Ensure the sales team meets agreed annual sales targets for membership and revenue growth by monitoring personal KPIs, providing motivation and leading by example. Identify opportunities and growth areas and design sales strategies to target these areas, to include but not limited to member retention, service utilisation and the sales of new products
  • Develop sales plans and segment targets, in support of the wider company strategy, including follow-up with the individual members of the sales team
  • Work alongside the marketing manager to identify potential new membership segments and create strategies and value propositions for targeting these segments. Drive sales methods to penetrate these new segments
  • Oversee all member activities for existing members including port orders, upgrades, membership changes and enquiries
  • Identify potential development opportunities of internal systems and processes relevant to the sales team, work alongside the Business Analyst to deliver these improvements
  • Oversee the management of the LINX partners to include:
  • Maintaining relationships with key senior contacts at the higher tiered partners
  • Developing existing partner packages, maintaining and updating reseller contracts, ensuring these are kept relevant to industry developments
  • Advising on marketing activities
  • Managing pipelines
  • Ensuring the team are focussing on the correct areas in order to produce results and reach targets
  • Build and extend strategic relationships within the industry
  • Ensure the team maintain accurate records of member, prospect and partner information

Planning

  • Oversee the delivery of the long-term company strategy at a sales team level. Work closely with the rest of the LINX Leadership Team to promote company strategy and culture
  • Oversee and lead the production of budgets and forecasts including regular reforecasting runs
  • Report monthly on sales performance against budget and provide explanations of variances
  • Write and deliver the sales team roadmap, ensuring that this compliments the marketing roadmap and overall company strategy

Management

  • Conduct all HR activities including appraisals, performance reviews and creating personal development plans for a team of 6 individuals
  • Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the sales team and manage accordingly
  • Identify areas of improvement within the sales team and propose, and implement improvement plans. Have a high knowledge of sales market trends and tools to optimise the performance of the team

  • Treat all LINX members fairly and equally
  • Any other activities as required by LINX

Requirements

  • Successful previous experience as a sales representative or sales manager, consistently meeting or achieving targets
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills
  • Experience working with Agile is preferable
  • Experience in the Telecom/Internet industry is preferable but not essential
